  • What is Micro-Needling?

    micro-needling also known as Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for treating the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and improvement of the skin’s overall appearance. During this procedure, the Astrapen microneedling pen is used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to produce collagen and elastin. Automated micro-needling also creates superficial micro-channels through which topical gels, creams and serums can be penetrated deeper into the dermis to help improve the appearance of the skin.

  • How Many Treatments of Skin Needling are Recommended?

    It is importatn to follow the treatment plan advised by cosmetic physician. However, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 3-4 treatments spaced about 4-8 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6-week intervals.

  • Are the treatment painful?

    Astrapen micro-needling system is minimal or no pain. The area will be anaesthetised with a topical local anaesthetic and therefore should not be painful. However the brow area and the upper lip are slightly more sensitive to treat.

  • What Happens During The Treatment

    After application of nubing cream for abour 15 min Dermaltherapist wil cleanse the area with our clinical grade cleansers.

    Next treatment will commence on each area of your face.

  • How to Prepare For My Treatment?

    Early preperation gives you best results. Prime your skin two weeks pror with AHA's, Vitamin A Vitamin B and Vitamin C serum treatment. and cease use of Retinol 12 hours before your sheduled treatment. 

    Avoid taning or prologed sun exposure for two weeks prior.

    Blood thinners, fish oil and Viamin E can increase your bruising after treatment. Discuss with your clinician about posibility of stoping them at least one week before.

    Men are to be clean shaven prior to treatment.

  • What will I look like post-treatment?

    You will experience some redness and mild swelling for 24-48 hours post-treatment. It's also normal to see small pinpoint bleeding and mild bruising. After a few days your skin will be a little dry and flaky, which will gradually disappear within one week.

  • Which body parts can you microneedle?

    You can use the Astrapen microneedle on your whole body. Popular areas include face, neck, décolleté and hips (for stretch marks). 

  • Are there any contraindications?

    Microneedling is not recommended in 

    • Pregnancy
    • Active cold sores 
    • Has had any laser resurfacing in the last three months
    • Currently having a bacterial or fungle infection of skin
    • History of Keloid or Hypertrophic scarring
    • Has history of post inflamatory pigmentation
  • Can I Wear Makeup After the Treatment?

    It is recommended you refrain from wearing makeup 24hours post treatment
